Goan Fish Curry:
Fish – 1Kg
Onion – 2 medium sized
Tomato – 2 medium sized
Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1tsp
Coconut – 1/2 cup
Tamarind – 1 small lemon size
Chilly Powder – 1 tbsp
Green Chilly – 3
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice – 1/2 tsp
Shallots – 8 to 10
Salt to taste
Oil – 2 tbsp
Marinate fish with Lime juice, little salt, little chilly powder, little turmeric powder and ginger garlic paste. Keep it aside for minimum 30 mins.
Take a pan and pour 1 tbsp oil. When oil gets heated add onion, ginger garlic paste and saute till it become transcluent.
Add tomato and green chilly and saute for another 2 mins, then add coconut, chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and curry leaves, saute for 2 mins and switch off the flame.
Allow the mixture to cool, then grind to fine or coarse paste as per your choice. Here i grinded coarsely.
- In a pan pour some oil and add fennel seeds, aloow it to splutter. Add shallots and saute for 2 mins, Now add the grinded paste and 1 1/2 glass water.
- Add tamarind paste and salt to your taste.
- Allow the mixture to boil for 3 mins. Now drop the marinated fish pieces and cook in medium flame for 6 to 8 mins.
- Cooking time varies for different fishes. Try to select soft fishes.
Switch off the flame and add curry leaves and serve hot with rice or chapathis.
